My time at Honeywell

  • As an intern, I gained valuable experience doing a wide range of design tasks, decision making, and work towards making customer’s operations safer, sustainable, and innovative.

I worked alongside the other senior designers on the team, assisting them with design work on their projects. Design work ranges from visual design to the creation of UI for certain features and elements of a system. Other work includes:

    • Migration of libraries from Sketch -> Figma

    • Creating light/dark theme components

    • Organising. and maintaining the design libraries

    • Work with cross-functional teams to understand visual and interface requirements on a product-by-product basis

    • Create screens based on user flows

    • Created working prototypes

    • Created icons that were pixel-perfect

    • T-shirt design for the Net-Zero Emissions workshop

    • Having two of my designs become chosen to be produced on tshirts, polos, hoodies and face masks

    • Successfully migrated icons and component libraries over from Sketch to Figma and ready to be put in use

    • Design on a recurring schedule feature for a customer ask within the Experion control system.

  • Although a lot of challenges came about with the beginning of a new lifestyle and the WFH initiative, I’ve gained a lot of personal and technical developments during my time at Honeywell. Working with highly experienced designers has taught me a lot about design processes, what to ask and consider in a design, deep understanding of the problem space, precision of my UI and UX skills, working in an agile environment, and getting a taste of the designer life.

I believe my main role as an intern is to get as much out of my experience at Honeywell as I can and learn more about the way senior designers work and their thinking processes. They have definitely been a big driver to my self-development and I’ve gained an immense amount of knowledge and skills from working beside them.
